There are different positions you can use to insert the female condom. For example, you can lie on your back or put one leg up on something, like a chair. Then, follow these three easy steps:
Step 1: Squeeze the inner ring between your thumb and middle finger.
Step 2: Insert the inner ring into the vagina, using your index finger to guide it inside.
Step 3: Once the ring is part way in, put your finger inside the condom and gently push it into the vaginal canal. The inner ring will fit behind the pubic bone and over the cervix.

To insert the FC2 for anal sex:
Some people who engage in receptive anal sex use female condoms to reduce their risk of HIV and STIs. However, the FC2 is not FDA approved for anal use (neither is the male condom). The Fenway Guide to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Health, published by the American College of Physicians, offers provisional instruction for use with or without the ring. Unfortunately, neither option has been evaluated for safety or efficacy.
A person may choose from two methods when using the FC2 for anal sex. The first method with the inner ring is illustrated below. With the second method, the inner ring is removed and the FC2 is put over the partner’s penis or toy, lubricant is applied to the penis, toy, and rectum before slowly entering.
